Drawing a Cook

I have been having a ball this weekend (in between cleaning out our home in preparation for Eid ul-Fitr, popping into Ikea and spending time with Nad) going through all the illustrated recipes submitted by artists from around the globe.

They Draw and Cook even have a kids' (16 and under) version. Check it out here.

I *HEART* U

I spent Christmas labouring in the kitchen. Cleaning.

Now, I can see the distinct red and white predominant in our kitchen.

I'm a happy camper.

What do I do on Boxing Day then (our office is closed today)?

M is watching cricket on telly being played in MCG. I think he's wishing he's back there.

So whilst he's busy veging out in front of the telly, I did this :

The Wheel of Life

This is looking really appealing at this point :

(Card by Harold's Planet)

I need to get on and move on from my current wave of depression and anger and practise a little bit more patience.

Elly Nelly

It's Friday and I'm feeling blue. Ill. The throat feels like it's on fire . . . bleah bleah bleah . . . . .

Meanwhile, I am in the office. Actually working my arse off . . . . well, if you count periodically "sneaking off" to Elly Nelly Design for much needed respite (and visual stimulation) as work. :-P

Check out the mother-daughter etsy store for more visual stimuli.

T(h)read-ing Gmail

Now that Gmail has launched for general use, advertising is in good order.

A t-shirt design contest with Threadless.com is the way to go. Everyone needs a thread - even those geeky lads who warms up that seat in front of that computer monitor - yes you! :-P ~ Inspira

The Art of Shopping

30 minutes to heading out of the office - it's not soon enough.

Meeting Friend J for a bit of a shopping indulgent --> I need yet another pair of shoes! :-P (A woman can never have enough shoes, so don't try changing my mind, M.)

I am fascinated by Elena Odriozola's illustrations. These from The Art File are just a sampling of her works. ~ Inspira

And oh ..... Great Singapore Sale starts this Friday - time to be reacquainted with our credit cards. :-P

Runway, Airports & Airside

It's been a while since my last CD buy (if you count my purchasing a Nirvana's Sliver : The Best of the Box CD a week ago as "a while"). A good excuse as any to traipse down to HMV and get myself a CD copy of Mika's Life in Cartoon Motion.

I first heard Mika's infectious sounds at a Ben Sherman/Miss Selfridge fashion show which M and I got invited to at Paragon the same weekend as the said Nirvana CD purchase. I was as intrigued by the illustrations on Mika's CD packaging as I was, the music.

So, not able to pull the strings on my purse any tighter, I am now a proud owner of a Mika CD. Which brings me to Airside. The multi-talented inhabitants of the planet Airside is the gel that works so well to put together a visual concept and identity for Mika.

And giving an identity to this generation's Freddie Mercury is not the only thing Airside does. Go on an Airside ride and you'll be assaulted by a riot of colours, typography, typefaces amongst others. Oh . . . they also have an online-shop. ~ Inspira

Here's a shocker : I am Not Normal

Edward Monkton so aptly illustrated yours truly.

No, I don't know him personally. And no, I don't think he even knows of my existence until yesterday.

I used to think that to not being normal is, well, not normal. In a society, especially such as ours on this island, to be abnormal does pose a bit of problem. Like how do I explain to my friends that I love my chocolate fudge cake to look slushy and "slapped" on; ugly even (it does so make the cake look soo tempting!)? That I love how the cemented walls of our new kitchen are showing signs of crackings - they show so much texture in between the shades of grey. That I like ice-cream more when it's raining. And how I like jumping in puddles of water getting soaked to the bone in the rain.

I don't think I am planning anytime soon to working on being normal. Normal is boring. I like kooky me. ~ Inspira
