M and I had a spot of tea on Saturday with Friend A (another Friend A. Not the same toxic Friend A referred to previously) and her husband, who have just relocated back here from Hong Kong.
It was a good catch up session. There were loads to catch up on since the last time we met (has it been at least 6 months?!) and boy, were there loads to catch up. Time whirred by and I suspect we'll have a few more catch up sessions.
Our conversations somehow lead to working indie. Home based. That struck a chord in me.
How I long to start indie. Moonlighting. Doing something that I love. I'm sure everyone has these dreams but not many have taken this path.
M and my friends have all high hopes of me striking out on my own. M thinks I can make it as a chocolatier. My friends have somehow always roped me in as an unofficial official wedding planner-cum-concept designer-cum-florist-cum-card designer. I'd like to think that I'm lightening my friends' load on wedding prep. I've been there and done that and let me tell you that the pre-wedding work can actually be quite mentally and emotionally exhausting if one does not have a good support system in the spouse-to-be and family and friends.
I'm quite fortunate to have friends who are open-minded and are gungho to try out new things - feathers as centre-pieces instead of the usual flowers for a self-proclaimed diva drama queen friend's December wedding. Rosary in place of a normal hand bouquet for a church and luncheon do of a friend who teaches Sunday classes for kids at church. I believe in a personalised wedding. Not something the wedding industry declares in season for the mass.
This rebellion against the norm is how Exp and I met on an online repository and forged a friendship.
Perhaps, I may just finally take the plunge. ~ Inspira
