My mom and dad will be off to Sabah today for a short getaway. Just the 2 of them.
With my mom's cancer in remission and her last daughter married off, I think she deserves this break. But I can't help but miss her. Even if the trip is only for 4 days and she will be back home in Yishun on Monday. And I bet then, she'll call me first then in the office to chit chat, nevermind that I may then have to run into a meeting.
This is the dear old woman who when I was 13 and just moved back to Singapore, decided to uproot the family into a part of Singapore that was just developing. The same woman who thought far ahead of her time and had someone to wall-paper her children's bedroom nevermind that she chose wallpaper in my room to simulate a bamboo forest (!) albeit with a gold hint so my room sparkled when the sun shines in. (Can you now imagine a panda aka me in a gold hued bamboo-simulated room?)
Mom, this is for you. I hope you have a swell time in Sabah. I love you. ~ Inspira
