hello inspira,
thanks for your text message. i'm fine. been crazy busy with apartment hunt and work. the best part of the hunt was the opportunity to face squarely what my net wealth is and what i expect from my investment in my own human capital. i'm also somewhat overwhelmed by the lack of professionalism in the real estate industry: i've been TOLD what suits me, what I should be looking (or not looking at), that prices are SKYROCKETING (don't they know that you can check the caveats lodged?!?), i've been quoted obnoxious prices and have been told that demand is outstripping supply - i should wise up and leave a blank check to reserve an apartment. Why don't the agents think that consumers are as skeptical of them as they are of car salespeople? I've been secretly hoping that the recent dip in the Dow Jones will send ripples to my neck of the woods so that some of the crazy talk will fizzle. anyway, i now have a less blurry idea of how i would furnish a place and what i like. the question is, will i move to the States within two years? (Singapore labor market seems less swift and we know we'll always find a job in the US - not that we are great, just the way the market works there.)
Holly at decor8 posted about SDSA. I've been oggling at the set design of "Somthing's gotta give". i will definitely have french doors. Isn't it ironic that despite my uncertain future, all I want is to purchase a house or an apartment so that I can cook, clean and nest. Or perhaps all that drifting in foggyland creates a desire to settle and grow roots. ~exp.
