random musings...
1. we were at a New York-style cafe yesterday - E would flip if he sees the pizza they serve. (E, by the way, is a Yankee.) Anyhoo, food wasn't all that fantastic but the company was. Time flies when you are having fun. E, we'll plan another night out when you are in town.
2. dwelling on wabi-sabi - "Taken from the Japanese words wabi, which translates to less is more, and sabi, which means attentive melancholy, wabi sabi refers to an awareness of the transient nature of earthly things and a corresponding pleasure in the things that bear the mark of this impermanence. As a design style, wabi sabi helps us to appreciate the simple beauty in imperfection--of a chipped vase or a rainy day, for example." (from Wabi-Sabi: The Japanese Art of Impermanence, by Andrew Juniper )
3. which brings me to May-belle's "perfectly imperfect" style
4. loooking forward to a happy weekend, i'll be devouring George Nelson on Design and Amy Katoh's Blue and White Japan + some work
5. oh, i'll be making Christmas ornaments for the swap too!
