Battle of the Urban Jungle (November 2006)

5 weeks on and the renovations to our home are still going on. Believe you me, I hear you - why so long?

Until 2 weeks ago, everything was going smoothly. Then the workers decided not to turn up for work due to the festivities late October, irregularities in the workmanship, the installers for the air-conditioner we're installing in our home drilled on the wrong wall(!) To put it midly, I am ashamed to say I was on a verge of a nervous breakdown. M pulled me back to reality.

This experience has drilled into me that there are things that are beyond my control. That there are other parties that I should trust to do the work and at the same time, hope that they will come through for you. I also realise that if they don't, I need to come up with a Plan B to rectify the situation. That brings me to the next question : how to do you rectify something that was done wrong to your future home? Wrong paint colour used on a wall perhaps would be easy to correct. But a hole wrongly drilled into a wall?! Neither M and I nor my contractors should be made to come out of pocket to rectify that darn hole. This leads me to the quandary I am in : should I or not threaten legal suit? It is so against my nature to "threaten" these people with legal implications just because I am versed in the laws.

So pardon me whilst I put on my battle armour . . . . ~ Inspira
