A(Part)

Dear Exp,

This photograph of ordinary wheatgrass always has a special spot in my heart.

It was one of the first photos taken with my inherited 1960s Minolta camera. The camera, a gadget left by my dad, collecting dust in the cupboards since his passing.

The photo was taken on the day when I decided to take photography again. Experimenting with a camera untested for almost 20 years.

Whilst the subject was ordinary, the circumstances which led me to pick the camera up again were extraordinary. It was a tumultuous time to shoot with a camera that once belonged to an extraordinary man in my life - memories of him I saw in the pinhole instead of the subjects I chose. But I knew that even though shooting with the camera would be difficult, my heart was in the right place. Photographs of the ordinary would turn out extraordinarily beautiful. A part of me. A part of my dad. Though apart, we made a connection.

So, my dear friend, I hope you will find that same connection with E and C as I found mine with dad though his Minolta camera. ~ Inspira

i'm so glad we have this little spot in cyberspace that is untainted with work/life-crap...an empty canvas to paint whatever we wish... ooo i love the picture... i'd like to order a few prints of your masterpieces and showcase them in my spanking new (i.e. emotion-less) office... oh, we should use one of your pictures as this blog's Fall banner too! Send along some suggestions over email when you have the time?
